Holy shit this is a thing that exists. 8-track to cassette adapter.
For free, I'm tempted to pick it up: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

couldn't you mod this to accept an aux cassette adapter? then it wouldn't even matter if you didn't have cassettes...

1. Connect MP3 player to default jack in car.
2. Connect laptop USB cord to an MP3 player. Use a program to put music out through the MP3 connection.
3. Connect Cassette to CD adapter to laptop's CD drive.
4. Plug 8-track to cassette adapter into the adapter.
5. Get 8-track that outputs based on cable input, connect to record player.
Install the whole system in one of these:
THE CIRCLE IS COMPLETE.
